I was born in 1971 on a dark and stormy night--no, really! I grew up imagining an audience of children listening to my stories and participating in my imaginary world. Pictures always accompanied my stories. Naturally, I'm drawn to illustrated text--comic books, picture books, cereal boxes. One of the defining moments in my artistic career was winning a colouring contest (well, one of several), and spending the entire winnings on an ElfQuest graphic novel--it was a book that would inspire me for years to come.

From business logos to comic books, my illustrations tell a story, usually with bright colours and lots of expression. I use mainly Prismacolor markers and Adobe Photoshop in creating and colouring my artwork, but I also use watercolours, water-soluble and coloured pencils, gouache, and oils. I really enjoy using my Macintosh for everything from creating to self-promotion mailouts.

I'm a self-taught artist, with a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Calgary. I love working with children, and I do both contract and volunteer teaching. My "Introduction to Cartooning" class full of eager 9-13 year-olds is one of the highlights of my week. Several times a year I travel to anthropomorphic conventions to exhibit my artwork, and I was Guest of Honor in 2002 at Conifur Northwest . I love deadlines, happy clients, cats, and a neat desk. I've done educational illustrations, website graphics, character designs, comics, rubber stamps, company logos and countless personal commissions.

I live in Calgary, the Heart of the New West, with my husband Michael, who's an actor/writer/web designer, and our son Peter. I love travelling, urban adventuring, reading, and movies.
